About Creative Scotland

Creative Scotland is the new national leader for Scotland's arts, screen and creative industries helping Scotland's creativity shine at home and abroad. Creative Scotland came into being on 1st July 2010 and is the amalgamation of Scottish Screen and the Scottish Arts Council.

An important part of what Creative Scotland does is to support schools and teachers in using films for learning. 

Film is a great way of learning about the world and your part in it. They are a window into different cultures and historical periods, excellent for developing your understanding of stories and ways of telling them, and digital technology means getting creative with film has never been easier. 

Creative Scotland wants exploring, making and understanding films, TV and games to be part of everyone’s experience of education.
