Mower Madness

A short film comedy horror!

In this amateur comedy film a man buys a new lawnmower which has a mind of its own and goes mad in the garden.

  • How did the filmmaker make the mower fly?
  • What kind of film does this remind you of?
  • How does the film try to generate 'suspense'?


Media Studies: Use stop-frame animation (pixilation) to make ordinary objects move.

Media Studies: Compare and contrast with work of Scottish animator Norman McLaren, especially 'Neighbours'.

Music: Experiment with different soundtracks that could be applied to this film.

Media Studies: Make a very short trailer in different genres (comedy, horror etc).

Media Studies: Identify different types of shots and narration e.g. close ups, point of view, cut aways.
