Description

This television documentary looks at two Scots families who have emigrated to Australia recording differing views and experiences of emigration. This clip includes a poster for Combined Scottish Societies Centenary Ball and the ball with pipers in the dance hall, Sir Simon Dewar being introduced to the guests and giving a speech. Matt David, the President of the society talks about individual societies. Shots of caber tossing at the Australian Highland Games with highland dancing. Discussion of Scottish traditions in Australia and a woman talking about Scottish heritage whilst children enjoy a barbecue in the garden. The Immigration Officer talks about an exiled Scot and immigrants discuss Australia as 'home' and her first trip back to Scotland. Includes tracking shots and a montage sequence of immigrants providing conflicting opinions of life in Australia.
