Gaelic Language & Culture e-resources with a focus on the Iolaire

Date: Tuesday 12th September 2017

Venue: National Library of Scotland, Kelvin Hall, Glasgow

Time: 10am – 11am

This learning event for upper secondary school pupils will showcase a brand new interactive resource from the National Library of Scotland which can be used in literacy, social subjects, and expressive arts. The session will provide guidance on how to get the most out of the e-resources in the classroom, supporting homework and independent online study.

Resources featured will include the new site dedicated to The Iolaire disaster in 1918/19 http://digital.nls.uk/learning/iolaire/index-en.html along with the music, books, historic maps, archive film footage from scotlandonscreen.org.uk

Aims:

To highlight online resources which support use of Gaelic language.

To increase participants’ confidence in using e-resources.

To provide opportunities for participants engage in further study about the Iolaire.
